We’re so excited to introduce you to Vega, one of the winners of our EquipMeOT Guided Hands® Giveaway on Instagram. Vega is a bright, funny, and determined little girl who lives with Dyskinetic cerebral palsy caused by a brain injury at birth. Her condition mainly affects her limb movements, but it hasn’t stopped her from wanting to try, learn, and express herself in every way possible.
Before receiving Guided Hands®, Vega’s mom, Alba, shared that the gap between what Vega wanted to do and what she could do was growing.
“She’s always wanted to play in her own way, and I was always looking for tools that would help her,” Alba explained.

Vega could grasp objects, but only for a short time. “Her focus was so directed on holding the crayon that she couldn’t draw. Grasping took all her focus and energy.”
Despite the challenges, Vega’s determination always shines through. She has always wanted to do things on her own, especially when she sees her sister drawing and colouring.
Vega’s family first heard about Guided Hands® through Annie Christophilakis, their occupational therapist at Smile Therapy. Annie had seen its impact with many other clients and suggested it could be a good fit. Soon after, Alba began following ImaginAble Solutions on social media and started seeing many success stories. When the Giveaway came across her feed, she entered… and won!
The first time Vega used Guided Hands® was unforgettable. Her smiles spoke volumes.
“It was a really big moment,” Alba shared. “I felt like this is the beginning of a journey where Vega will be able to express herself better and more accurately. I can really see how Guided Hands will grow with her and how it will continue to help her.”

As a homeschooling parent, Alba also sees how this tool will become a powerful part of Vega’s learning journey. Beyond supporting education, communication and creativity, Guided Hands® also helps to reduce unnecessary movements, which in turn will work on managing Vega’s dystonia.
Since receiving Guided Hands, Vega is discovering new ways to be creative.
Drawing and colouring has quickly become a favourite activity. “Every day she’s so excited to use Guided Hands,” Alba says, “When Vega sits in her highchair after breakfast, she’s already looking towards the art room. I’ll ask, ‘Do you want to draw? Do you want me to get Guided Hands?’ and she’s practically jumping out of her seat.”
Watching Vega and her sister create side by side has become motivating for her, and heartwarming for the whole family to see and experience.
Through every challenge, Vega continues to surprise her family with her determination and sense of humour. Guided Hands® has opened up new ways for Vega to express herself and connect with those around her. This is what it’s all about.
